Welcome to Infant Hearing Program for Professionals

The first months and years of a child’s life are very important for developing language. Undetected hearing loss is one of the causes of delayed language development which can lead to behavioural, cognitive and emotional problems.

Most children who are deaf or hard of hearing, whose hearing loss is identified early, and who receive the support they need have a better chance of developing effective oral and/or visual language skills.

Toronto Public Health, the lead agency for the Toronto Preschool Speech and Language Services – Infant Hearing Program has received funding from the Ministry of Children and Youth Services to provide services to children who are identified as deaf or hard of hearing.
