What services does the program offer?

  • Family support
    Family Support Workers provide service coordination, counselling and family support as needed while your child is receiving Blind – Low Vision Early Intervention Program services.
  • Early intervention
    Early Childhood Vision Consultants provide in-home services that focus on helping you support the development of your child.
  • Child care consultation
    Early Childhood Vision Consultants assist child care providers to understand and respond to the needs of children who are blind or have low vision and are in early learning and child care settings.
  • Public awareness and professional/parent education
    Family Support Workers and Early Childhood Vision Consultants provide workshops, presentations and parent education sessions about developmental milestones for vision, visual disorders and support services.
Who can receive these services?
The Blind – Low Vision Early Intervention Program services are available to families who:
  • live in Toronto
  • have a child from birth until school entry
  • are concerned about their child's vision
  • have a child that has been diagnosed by an ophthalmologist (a medical doctor who specializes in eyes) as being blind or having low vision
